Old Range Steakhouse

As you walk into Old Range Steakhouse you’ll be greeted by the Wall of Wine from which you can select a bottle to accompany your meal. Slip into one of their vinyl booths surrounded by redwood paneling and take in the view of the lake and mountains. The vintage steakhouse atmosphere probably hasn’t been updated since the 1970s, but that’s not a complaint. Big is the operative word here – big portions, big steaks, big view. Most of the menu items will feed more than one person.

Check out their wide range of aged and fresh corn-fed Angus beef such as rib eyes, filet mignon, porterhouse and New York strip. Try the rotisserie chicken, braised lamb shank, king crab legs or the giant Iowa pork chop. The house specialty is salt-roasted prime rib. The bread is served warm, and the garlic mashers are a great accompaniment to anything on the menu. If you’re there before 6 p.m. on a weekday, they’ve got three-course early bird specials for $29. Old Range Steakhouse is open daily for dinner.
